The CalgaryRodeo Network ("CRN", "we", "us") is a collection of community websites operated by Fat Monk Media Ltd., based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Our purpose is to connect Calgarians with local businesses, community stories, and neighbourhood information.

Dusty is an AI assistant powered by Anthropic's Claude. When you send a message to Dusty, it is processed in real time to generate a response. Your messages pass through a moderation system (pattern matching and AI classification) before reaching Dusty. We log interactions for quality and safety purposes.
Stories you share may be selected for inclusion in our weekly newsletter, "The Calgary Roundup." An AI system generates a suggested headline and summary to assist our editorial process. Your story text, along with your name and the domain you submitted from, is stored in a moderation queue. If your story is selected, only your first name is used publicly.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address and the site you signed up from are sent to Beehiiv, our email delivery provider. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.

We use the following third-party services to operate CRN. Each processes limited personal data as described above:
Supabase (database and authentication), Anthropic (AI chat and moderation), Cloudflare (DNS and content delivery), Beehiiv (newsletter delivery), Make.com (workflow automation), Google (Sheets for editorial curation, OAuth for login), Hostinger (website hosting), and Google Places API (business directory data — no personal data involved).
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. These services process data only as necessary to provide CRN's functionality.

As a resident of Alberta or Canada, you have the right to:
Access — Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Correction — Ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
Deletion — Request that we delete your personal information. We will comply unless we have a legal obligation to retain it.
Withdraw consent — You may withdraw consent for data collection at any time. For newsletter subscriptions, use the unsubscribe link. For account deletion, contact us directly.
Complaint — If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (OIPC) at oipc.ab.ca.

We use AI in two ways:
Dusty (conversational AI) — Generates responses to your questions using community knowledge. Dusty does not make decisions that have legal or significant effects on you. Dusty's responses are informational only and should not be relied upon as professional advice.
Content moderation — An AI classifier reviews messages for safety before they reach Dusty. Messages flagged as unsafe are blocked automatically. This is done to maintain a family-friendly environment. No human reviews individual messages unless they are flagged for moderation.
We do not use AI to profile you, make credit decisions, or perform automated decision-making that produces legal effects.
CRN sites are designed for a general audience, including families. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
CRN sites use minimal cookies required for authentication (Supabase session tokens). We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics platforms that follow you across the web. The source domain is tracked via a simple parameter when you sign up for the newsletter — this tells us which site you came from, not your browsing history.
We protect your data through encrypted connections (HTTPS on all sites via Cloudflare), PII redaction before storage, three-layer content moderation, database access controls via Supabase Row Level Security, and a 90-day automatic deletion policy on chat logs. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate for a community platform.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. If changes significantly affect how we handle your data, we will notify newsletter subscribers by email.
